Fertility Enhancing Surgery

Fertility Enhancing Surgeries are performed to check the conditions can contribute to infertility. Females who have following conditions can be evaluated for Fertility Enhancing Surgeries using hysteroscopic or laparoscopic procedures:

  • Endometriosis: Endometriosis is medical condition in which cells from the lining of the uterus (endometrium) appear and flourish outside the uterine cavity, most commonly on the peritoneum which lines the abdominal cavity. Endometriosis is a common finding in women with infertility.
  • Pelvic adhesions: Pelvic adhesions are a form of abdominal adhesions in the pelvis, typically in women affecting reproductive organs and thus of concern in reproduction
  • Fibroids: A uterine fibroid is a leiomyoma (benign (non-cancerous) tumor from smooth muscle tissue) that originates from the smooth muscle layer (myometrium) of the uterus. Fibroids can be a cause for infertility.
  • Uterine septum: A uterine septum is a form of a congenital malformation where the uterine cavity is partitioned by a longitudinal septum; the outside of the uterus has a normal typical shape

The surgical treatment of the above conditions include hysteroscopy and laparoscopic surgery – both minimally invasive surgeries.
